Tips for Growing Shrek Ear Succulent

Better known as "Shrek's ear" for having this ear shape similar to that of the iconic character.

Crassula ovata Gollum

Shrek's Ear prefers well-draining, sandy soil. You can mix a little coarse sand or gravel into the soil to improve drainage.

This succulent likes direct sunlight but can tolerate partial shade. Place it near a sunny window or outdoors in a bright spot.

Shrek's ear doesn't need a lot of water, it can rot if left in wet soil for too long. Water it only when the soil is completely dry, every 7-10 days in summer and every 14-21 days in winter.

It doesn't need much fertilization and can be fed once a year with a balanced fertilizer for succulents during spring or summer.

If the plant grows too tall or stretched out, it can be trimmed to encourage more compact, healthy growth. Use clean, sharp pruning shears to cut the ends of the stems.
